Our Story

Danny Varughese, LPC

Danny Varughese is a licensed professional counselor with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and compassion. He created his own metaphorical laboratory, living and breathing the principles he teaches: approaching each moment as if all that you desire is happening right now. This mindset has profoundly enhanced his own life, and he brings it into every client interaction.

Action-focused and results-driven, Danny catalyzes transformation and equilibrium for those seeking balance. With every session, he spreads positive energy and reinforces the message that every person is capable of mastering what they wish, right now, in this very moment. Through Axon & Arbor, Danny combines science-backed strategies with practical support, helping clients explore depths they haven’t reached before and thrive in ways they never imagined.

Katharine McDermott, Cofounder

Katharine met Danny in 2020, as the world was emerging from COVID, and quickly observed his rare ability to meet adversity with intention, humor, and growth. She witnessed how he reframed challenges into opportunities for strengthening identity and purpose, guided by a deep belief in relieving suffering and helping others live with clarity and confidence. Inspired by his values and their shared commitment to healing, they founded Axon & Arbor—a practice rooted in the integration of science, compassion, and personal narrative, dedicated to helping individuals and families cultivate balance, resilience, and meaningful connection.

On her downtime, Katharine enjoys working as a postpartum doula, homeschooling her two beautiful daughters, and cooking healthy meals for family and friends.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
